The above group is a one of the most amazing local singing choruses people will ever be thrilled to hear. The director, Nancy Menk, auditions them every year and chooses singers who are of the highest musical levels in the area. Fergie would not make the cut.
Instead of giving bad reviews to popular singers (Fergie and her anthem, for instance) I want to plug excellent singing that locals can support.
If you live near South Bend, Indiana, please take time to go hear their well-rehearsed sound. If you live in NYC, you can hear them at Carnegie Hall.

Nancy Menk works tirelessly to bring newly composed musical works into Chamber Singer repertoire - "commissions." There is always a challenge on the horizon for her singers and they have the talent to bring each new work to life. If they didn't have raw talent; if they weren't working to practice their singing craft in voice lessons; if they couldn't read music, they wouldn't make the cut.
As consumers, let's try to do our best to support groups like The South Bend Chamber Singers. I will also try to do better with my posts to give kudos where they belong, highlighting superb artists who don't get enough world-stage publicity.
