B IOGRAPHY CREDENTIALS
Michelle DeFrancesco Bythrow received her Bachelor’s of Music Education in Choral and Vocal music from Indiana University (Bloomington) and Master's of Sacred Music in vocal performance and conducting from the University of Notre Dame in 2011. She is currently working toward a Master's of Vocal Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Princeton, NJ.
Her first professional singing job was with the Sacramento Opera Company. Since then, she has performed professionally in operas, musicals and as a featured soloist in several concert venues.
She led worship in Thailand, China, India, and France and conducted her own compositions with the American Church of Paris.
Michelle acted roles on television and posed as a commercial print model.
She worked as an adjunct music instructor for five years at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN.
She taught adjunct as a private vocal instructor at The University of Notre Dame for three years where she also had the honor of coaching soloists for the Notre Dame Folk Choir under the direction of Steven Warner.
In 2012, Michelle released her first jazz E.P. called “Blue."
She conducted the Monday Musical choir of St. Joseph, MI for two spring seasons. In 2015, Michelle had the honor of directing them at the Michigan Federation of Choirs in Lansing, MI.
Michelle sang with various music choirs at the University of Notre Dame under the direction of Carmen Helena Téllez and student directors.
She served for three years as cantor at Our Lady of the Lake parish in Edwardsburg, MI and substituted as music director for Our Lady of the Lake and St. Anne's Catholic parishes.
She sang annually for five years at the Mountain Mingle in Park City, Utah.
Michelle taught and performed at the annual Storyteller's Creative Arts Conference in Naples, Florida for many years.
She was a featured vocal soloist with the Lake Effect Jazz Big Band for eight years under the direction of Steven Reed and continues to be a featured vocal soloist with the St. Joseph Municipal Band under the direction of Dr. Donald Moely.
Michelle completed a vocal pedagogy professional workshop at Boston Conservatory.
She completed her certification in Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech.
Michelle is certified in Contemporary and Commercial Music vocal pedagogy through Shenandoah University's CCM Institute.
She finished her second master's degree in vocal pedagogy, with distinction from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.
She is now a Ph.D. candidate in the area of music education at the University of Utah!
She takes voice lessons from Carla Rae Cook and she's preparing for upcoming professional solo work. Michelle coaches students in jazz, musical theatre, and classical singing techniques while using her Vocology knowledge to help them find their ideal voices. She gigs for conferences and retreats and she is also an actress.
